È entrato all’Universitätsspital, l’Ospedale Universitario di Zurigo, il 27 giugno per sottoporsi a un'operazione alla spalla, ma le condizioni di Sergio Marchionne sono precipitate e sabato 21 giugno i vertici del Lingotto hanno convocato i cda con urgenza delle società in cui Marchionne aveva un ruolo: Fca (ad), Ferrari (ad e presidente) e Cnh Industrial (presidente). A lui sono subentrati Mike Manley nuovo amministratore delegato di Fca, Luis Camilleri ad Ferrari, con John Elkann presidente. ''Starò via solo pochi giorni'', aveva detto ai collaboratori, ''non c’è bisogno di cambiare troppo l’agenda''. Nessuno sospettava che le cose sarebbero andate diversamente. Marchionne è ricoverato da oltre tre settimane all’Universitatsspital, l’ospedale universitario che sorge su una delle colline che si affacciano sul lago di Zurigo, in Svizzera, dove il manager risiede (In svizzera abitano anche l'ex moglie e i due figli). Qui ha subito un intervento alla spalla destra per cui era previsto un breve periodo di convalescenza. Si parla di terapia intensiva e di condizioni irreversibili. L’accesso ai media è off-limits, difficile superare il cordone, discreto ma fermo, della security. Di certo, fino ad ora, ci sono solo le parole di ieri di John Elkann: “Sono profondamente addolorato per le condizioni di Sergio. Si tratta di una situazione impensabile fino a poche ore fa, che lascia a tutti quanti un senso di ingiustizia”. L’ultima apparizione del top manager risale allo scorso 26 giugno a Roma per la consegna di una Jeep Wrangler all’Arma dei Carabinieri per servizi di controllo sulle spiagge romagnole.
